Hi there!

Thank you for choosing Apps4Rent. We hope you have the best experience with us.

Do you find setting up your Cloud Desktop with Mac computer too overwhelming? Well, it’s really simple.

Just follow our step-by-step instructions below and you’re good to go! Here we begin.

Getting started with Cloud Desktop on Mac Computer

What do you need to get started?

To get started on Mac, you will need to have the following requirements:

  • Internet-connected Mac computer
  • Latest Microsoft Remote Desktop software
  • Your credentials provided in the welcome email from Apps4Rent

Internet-connected Mac computer

Of course, you will need a good internet connection for accessing the Cloud Desktop. After that, accessing the Cloud Desktop is as easy as accessing a secure website that requires a username and password. Your Cloud Desktop appears in a separate window that looks like your regular desktop. You can minimize and maximize the tabs to go back and forth between your Cloud Desktop and regular desktop.

Latest Microsoft Remote Desktop software

This is the tool through which you will access your Cloud Desktop, just as the web browser is a tool required to browse the internet.

In Mac computers, you can download the software from App Store. All you need to do is type “Microsoft Remote Desktop Connection” in the App Store search bar. Don’t worry, we have covered it in our instructions later.

Your credentials provided in the welcome email from Apps4Rent

Please refer to our email with subject line “Welcome Email. This email has important information for your easy access to Cloud Desktop. Please keep this information safe:

  • Desktop Name/RDP Host Name/IP
  • Username
  • Password

We have provided you the credentials to login to your cloud desktop. Now you have all the information that you need, let’s get started.

Let’s take an example with the following information:

  • Desktop Name/RDP Host Name/IP: computer.fabrikam.com
  • Username: administrator
  • Password: 123456

Instructions for Mac Computers

Step 1: Install the Microsoft Remote Desktop Software

Unlike Windows, the software doesn’t come pre-installed in Mac computers. Therefore, you will need to download the “Microsoft Remote Desktop” software from App Store. Click on the App Store icon from your main menu to go to the App Store.

In the Search bar, type “Microsoft Remote Desktop.”

Download the Microsoft Remote Desktop 8.0 software.

(There might be different versions too, and all the versions above 8.0 work fine. However, it also depends on the compatibility of your Mac with the software version.)

Click on the “Get” button to start installing the software.

Step 2: Enter Your Credentials

Once the software is downloaded, you need to click on the “New” (+) icon to start a new remote desktop connection.

After you click the ‘+’ icon, a new pop-up will be displayed on the screen. Here you will enter the credentials. Here, the important fields are: Connection name, PC name, User name, and Password.

The Connection name can be any random name. We have written ‘Test’ here.

Now let us see our example:

  • Desktop Name/RDP Host Name/IP: computer.fabrikam.com
  • Username: administrator
  • Password: 123456

These are just examples. You must enter your own credentials  offered in welcome email.

Once you have entered your credentials, close the window. Click on the red cross on the top-left of the tab.

Step 3: Connect to Our Cloud Desktop

Hey, we are almost done at this step. After you have entered the credentials and closed that tab, you have saved your preference for future. You won’t need to type your credentials every time. Under ‘My Desktops’, you just need to select your Connection name.

In the example above, our Connection name is ‘Test.’

Thus, we will select Test and click on the ‘Start’ icon to connect to our Cloud Desktop.

Wait for a few moments till your Cloud Desktop loads.

Congratulations!
