Steps to Use the Apps4Rent Self-Password Reset Tool

Hi there,

Thank you for choosing Apps4Rent. The safety and security of your data is our top priority. We recommend updating your Cloud Desktop password at regular intervals. To reset your Cloud Desktop password, please follow the steps below.

  1. Launch the Application

    Open the “Apps4Rent Password Change Tool” on your desktop or start menu.

  2. Review User Details

    The tool displays your username and domain or device context information at the top of the window.

  3. Understand Password Requirements

    • Password should be 8 characters long.
    • It should be a combination of Upper and Lowercase characters.
    • It should contain 2 numerical digits.
    • It should contain at least 1 special character, like !,@,$ etc.
    • It should not resemble the Username, First or Last Name, or an email address.
  4. Enter the Current Password

    • In the “Current Password” field, enter your existing account password.
    • You may use copy-paste to enter it if needed.
    • To view what you type, you can check the “Show Passwords” option.
  5. Set a New Password

    • In the “New Password” and “Confirm Password” fields, type your new password.
    • Password strength will be shown as you type.
    • The tool lets you copy-paste your new password as well.
  6. Password Complexity Validation

    • Ensure your new password meets the minimum complexity requirements.
    • If the password is strong enough, the bar next to “Password Strength” will show green and indicate “Strong”.
    • If not, revise your password to include missing criteria.
  7. Submit the Change

    • Click the Change Password button.
    • If all inputs are valid, you’ll see “Password changed successfully!”
  8. Important Notes After Reset

    • For domain accounts, after you have successfully changed your password, you will NOT be able to change it again using this or any other method for the next 24 hours, per policy.
    • For workgroup/local accounts, immediate re-change policy may vary depending on your local policy.
  9. Troubleshooting

    • If you encounter issues or receive errors (such as policy violations or incorrect password), follow on-screen messages.
    • For further help, contact our IT support as mentioned in the application:
      “If you need assistance changing your password, reach out to our support team.”
  10. Advantages Over Traditional Method

    • No need for Ctrl + Alt + Del: Passwords can be reset directly within the tool—ideal for remote sessions or unfamiliar users.
    • User-friendly: Copy-paste support and visible password strength indicator reduce errors and frustration.
