{"id":6472,"date":"2010-08-25T08:00:30","date_gmt":"2010-08-25T12:00:30","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/apps4rent.com\/support\/?p=6472"},"modified":"2024-09-30T12:54:51","modified_gmt":"2024-09-30T12:54:51","slug":"configuring-palm-centro-to-sync-with-microsoft-exchange-server","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.apps4rent.com\/support\/kb\/article\/configuring-palm-centro-to-sync-with-microsoft-exchange-server","title":{"rendered":"Configuring Palm Centro to sync with Hosted Microsoft Exchange Server"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>While configuring Exchange ActiveSync account on a <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>Centro <\/strong><\/span>smartphone, it is possible to sync email, calendar, contacts, etc. using corporate groupware information on a Microsoft Exchange 2003 or 2007 server: Information in these applications is pushed using Microsoft Direct Push directly from the server to your device or wirelessly synchronizes directly with the server from your device without using a desktop computer.<\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Configuring Palm Centro to sync with <\/span><\/strong><strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.apps4rent.com\/microsoft-exchange-server.html\">Microsoft Exchange Server<\/a><\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<ul type=\"disc\">\n<li class=\"MsoNormal\"><strong>If this is the first<\/strong> email account you&#8217;ve set up in VersaMail, you\u2019ll see an <strong>Account Setup<\/strong> option. Select <strong>Continue<\/strong> .<\/li>\n<li class=\"MsoNormal\"><strong>If you&#8217;ve already<\/strong> set up one account in VersaMail, you\u2019ll see the Inbox. Press Menu. From the Accounts menu, select Account Setup. Then select <strong>New<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li class=\"MsoNormal\">Enter the account username and password:<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin-left: 0.5in; text-indent: -0.25in;\"><!--[if !supportLists]--><span style=\"font-size: 10pt; font-family: Wingdings;\"><span>\u00d8<\/span><\/span><!--[endif]-->Enter the <strong>username<\/strong> you use to access your email.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin-left: 0.5in; text-indent: -0.25in;\"><!--[if !supportLists]--><span style=\"font-size: 10pt; font-family: Wingdings;\"><span>\u00d8<\/span><\/span><!--[endif]-->Select the <strong>Password<\/strong> box, enter your email account password, and then select OK.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin-left: 0.5in; text-indent: -0.25in;\"><!--[if !supportLists]--><span style=\"font-size: 10pt; font-family: Wingdings;\"><span>\u00d8<\/span><\/span><!--[endif]-->Select <strong>Next<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<ul type=\"disc\">\n<li class=\"MsoNormal\">Select <strong>Outlook (EAS)<\/strong> from the <strong>Mail Type<\/strong> drop-down menu.<\/li>\n<li class=\"MsoNormal\">Enter your Exchange Mail Server name.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin-left: 0.5in; text-indent: -0.25in;\"><!--[if !supportLists]--><span style=\"font-size: 10pt; font-family: Wingdings;\"><span>\u00d8<\/span><\/span><!--[endif]-->Then select one of the following:<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin-left: 0.5in; text-indent: -0.25in;\"><!--[if !supportLists]--><span style=\"font-size: 10pt; font-family: Wingdings;\"><span>\u00d8<\/span><\/span><!--[endif]--><strong>Done:<\/strong> Finish and go to the Inbox of the account you set up, where you can begin receiving and sending email.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin-left: 0.5in; text-indent: -0.25in;\"><!--[if !supportLists]--><span style=\"font-size: 10pt; font-family: Wingdings;\"><span>\u00d8<\/span><\/span><!--[endif]--><strong>Advanced:<\/strong> Set more mail options.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin-left: 0.5in; text-indent: -0.25in;\"><!--[if !supportLists]--><span style=\"font-size: 10pt; font-family: Wingdings;\"><span>\u00d8<\/span><\/span><!--[endif]--><strong>Test Settings:<\/strong> Ping the Exchange Server to determine if your settings are correct, without downloading email yet. You&#8217;ll see a message that states whether the test was successful.<\/p>\n<ul type=\"disc\">\n<li class=\"MsoNormal\">Optional: If you selected Advanced&#8230; Select any of the following:<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin-left: 0.5in; text-indent: -0.25in;\"><!--[if !supportLists]--><span style=\"font-size: 10pt; font-family: Wingdings;\"><span>\u00d8<\/span><\/span><!--[endif]--><strong>Port Number:<\/strong> By default, the port number setting is 443. You may need to change the port number if you choose not to retrieve incoming mail over a secure connection.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin-left: 0.5in; text-indent: -0.25in;\"><!--[if !supportLists]--><span style=\"font-size: 10pt; font-family: Wingdings;\"><span>\u00d8<\/span><\/span><!--[endif]--><strong>Use Secure Connection (SSL):<\/strong> By default, this box is checked, meaning you can retrieve incoming mail over a secure (Secure Sockets Layer, or SSL) connection. Uncheck the box if you do not want to receive email over an SSL connection.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin-left: 0.5in; text-indent: -0.25in;\"><!--[if !supportLists]--><span style=\"font-size: 10pt; font-family: Wingdings;\"><span>\u00d8<\/span><\/span><!--[endif]-->Select <strong>Next<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<ul type=\"disc\">\n<li class=\"MsoNormal\"><strong>Optional: If you selected Advanced &#8230;<\/strong> If you use a proxy server, enter the proxy server name and port number, and check the box if your server requires authentication.
