Scheduling a later delivery of email sent out from Microsoft Outlook<\/strong><\/p>\n

You can delay the delivery of an individual e-mail message or you can use rules to delay the delivery of all messages by having them held in the Outbox<\/strong> for a specified time after you click Send<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

How to delay the delivery of a single message<\/strong>?<\/p>\n

  1. In the message, on the Options<\/strong> tab, in the More Options<\/strong> group, click Delay Delivery Button <\/strong>.<\/li>\n
  2. Click Message Options<\/strong>.<\/li>\n
  3. Under Delivery options<\/strong>, select the Do not deliver before<\/strong> check box, and then click the delivery date and time that you want.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    After you click Send<\/strong>, the message remains in the Outbox<\/strong> folder until the delivery time.<\/p>\n

    Note: <\/strong> If you are using a POP3 account, Outlook must remain open until the message is sent. To determine the type of account you are using, on the Tools<\/strong> menu, click Account Settings<\/strong>. On the E-mail<\/strong> tab, the Type<\/strong> column lists the type of accounts that are in your active Outlook profile.<\/p>\n

    How to delay the delivery of all messages?<\/strong><\/p>\n

      \n
    1. On the Tools<\/strong> menu, click Rules and Alerts<\/strong>, and then click New Rule<\/strong>.<\/li>\n
    2. In the Step 1: Select a template<\/strong> box, , under Start from a Blank Rule,<\/strong> click Check messages after sending<\/strong>, and then click Next<\/strong>.<\/li>\n
    3. In the Step 1: Select condition(s)<\/strong> list, select any options that you want, and then click Next<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

      If you do not select any check boxes, a confirmation dialog box appears. If you click Yes<\/strong>, the rule you are creating will be applied to all messages that you send.<\/p>\n

      1. In the Step 1: Select action(s)<\/strong> list, select defer delivery by a number of minutes<\/strong>.<\/li>\n
      2. In the Step 2: Edit the rule description (click an underlined value)<\/strong> box, click the underlined phrase a number of<\/strong> and enter the number of minutes for which you want the messages to be held before sending.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

        Delivery can be delayed up to 120 minutes.<\/p>\n

        1. Click OK<\/strong>, and then click Next<\/strong>.<\/li>\n
        2. Select any exceptions that you want.<\/li>\n
        3. Click Next<\/strong>.<\/li>\n
        4. In the Step 1: Specify a name for this rule<\/strong> box, type a name for the rule.<\/li>\n
        5. Select the Turn on this rule<\/strong> check box.<\/li>\n
        6. Click Finish<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

          After you click Send<\/strong>, each message remains in the Outbox<\/strong> folder for the amount of time you specified.<\/p>\n
