Instructions to backup data on a BlackBerry smartphone or device<\/strong><\/p>\n

Scenarios for Reference Purposes:<\/span><\/strong> Please note that these scenarios are only for understanding the type of issues which this document might be able to address.<\/p>\n

Scenario 1:<\/span><\/strong> I want to wipe my BlackBerry Device.\u00a0 Before wiping the device; I need to take a backup.<\/p>\n

Scenario 2:<\/span><\/strong> I have some sensitive data and hence want to take a back-up of my device regularly for sensitive data.<\/p>\n

Please follow these steps to take a backup of the data for your BlackBerry Device using BlackBerry Desktop Manager.<\/p>\n

To\u00a0perform a full backup<\/strong> of the BlackBerry smartphone data, complete the\u00a0following steps:<\/p>\n

  1. Connect the BlackBerry\u00a0smartphone to\u00a0the computer running BlackBerry Desktop Manager.<\/li>\n
  2. Open\u00a0BlackBerry Desktop Manager<\/strong>.<\/li>\n
  3. Click\u00a0Backup and Restore<\/strong>.<\/li>\n
  4. Select Backup<\/strong> to perform a full backup.<\/li>\n
  5. Select\u00a0a location to save the backup file, and click Save<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    To perform a selective backup<\/strong> for one or more databases, perform the following steps:<\/p>\n

    1. Connect the BlackBerry\u00a0smartphone to\u00a0the computer running BlackBerry Desktop Manager.<\/li>\n
    2. Open\u00a0BlackBerry Desktop Manager<\/strong>.<\/li>\n
    3. Click\u00a0Backup and Restore<\/strong>.<\/li>\n
    4. Click Advanced.<\/strong><\/li>\n
    5. Select the database(s) you want to back up from the Device databases<\/strong> selection window.<\/li>\n
    6. Click the Arrow<\/strong> that points to the left side of the screen to select the database(s) you want to include in the backup.<\/li>\n
    7. Make sure that the correct database(s) are listed in the Computer databases <\/strong>selection window.<\/strong><\/li>\n
    8. Click File > Save <\/strong>near the top left corner of the Desktop Manager window.<\/li>\n
    9. Name the backup file and\u00a0choose a save location.<\/li>\n
    10. Click Save<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n
