The integration between Outlook 2007 and Internet Explorer\u2019s RSS system will slow down Outlook 2007. If you do not want to use Outlook 2007 for your RSS feed reader or aggregator, here is how to remove this feature from Outlook.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Sadly, there is no command, option, or registry hack to hide the RSS icon or section in Outlook. We can, however, pretty much disable it.<\/p>\n

If you do not want to use Outlook 2007\u2019s RSS Feed Reader feature, you should remove it. It slows down Outlook. This also shows you how to remove the RSS feeds from the Outlook sidebar.<\/p>\n

The main reason Outlook is made slower by RSS feeds is that Outlook will need time to sync with IE7\u2019s feeds. By disabling this sync, you will improve Outlook\u2019s performance.<\/p>\n

Disable Outlook\u2019s RSS Sync:<\/p>\n

1. Open Outlook 2007
\n2. Click the Tools <\/strong>menu
\n3. Click Options<\/strong>
\n4. Select the Other<\/strong> tab
\n5. Click the Advanced Options <\/strong>button
\n6. Uncheck Sync RSS feeds to the Common Feed List<\/strong>
\n7. Click OK X 2<\/p>\n

That will speed up Outlook. If you want to remove the RSS subscriptions from Outlook, you may wish to do this following.<\/p>\n

Mass Remove Feed Subscriptions from Outlook:<\/p>\n

    \n
  1. Click Tools<\/strong> menu and then Options<\/strong> again.
    \n2. Select the poorly named Mail Setup <\/strong>tab
    \n3. Click the Data Files <\/strong>button
    \n4. Click the RSS Feeds <\/strong>tab
    \n5. Click the first feed and scroll down to the bottom of the feed list
    \n6. Hold the SHIFT key and click the last feed. All feeds should now be selected.
    \n7. Click the Remove<\/strong> button
    \n8. Confirm you want them all deleted.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    Now we\u2019ll need to delete the old feed content as well\u2026<\/p>\n

    9. Expand the RSS Feed folder under Personal Folders<\/em>
    \n10. Select each feed and press Delete<\/strong>. You\u2019ll have to confirm the delete.
